Expectations:
First and foremost, this is Gods ministry, reaching out with the love of Jesus Christ to those behind the walls of jails and prisons, wherever the Lord leads. All who participate in this ministry, whether incarcerated, upon release, or in volunteer service are expected to:
- Have a desire to be obedient to Gods command to visit the prisoners. Matthew 25; Hebrews 13:3; Luke 4:18.
- Have a passion for souls.
- Have a servants heart.
- Pray for Gods will, plus intercessory prayer.
- Be totally open to the Holy Spirit and realize it when it happens.
- Communicate Biblical truth that inspires greater obedience to Gods Word.
- Hold worship services and Bible studies in jails/prisons.
- Encourage/provide Bible College studies (Emmaus, Moody, Salvation Army).
- Train mentors to go into facilities to meet one-to-one with inmates, and be on the outside for themto continue mentoring.
- Engage in post-prison ministry being there for men and women as they are released, providing spiritual encouragement, mentoring, jobs, and other basic needs.
- Reach out to the families of prisoners as needed.
- Provide ministries for the children of those incarcerated (basketball, sports camp, Bible studies, mentoring).
- Help locate post-prison housing (i.e., Koinonia)
- Encourage churches to be involved in jail/prison and post-prison ministry.
